Nordic Puls is the official publication of the Filipino Nurses Association in the Nordic Region. We welcome contributions that advance nursing knowledge, policy, education, and practice

Types of submissions

We accept the following article types:


  • Full Research Articles(5,000–7,000 words)
  • Literature Reviews(4,000–6,000 words)
  • Research Briefs(1,500–3,000 words)
  • Editorials(1,000–2,000 words)
  • Innovative Ideas(up to 2,500 words)
  • Best Practices in Nursing(2,000–4,000 words)

Focus Areas

Submissions should align with one or more of the following themes:


Nursing Practice and Innovation


Explores clinical excellence, evidence-based interventions, patient safety, and culturally competent care. Includes innovations in bedside care, community health, and interprofessional collaboration.


Health Policy and Systems


Analyzes health policies, governance, and systems affecting nurses and migrant populations. Topics may include workforce mobility, licensing, integration, and access to care.


Migrant and Transnational Health


Focuses on the health experiences, challenges, and outcomes of migrant populations, especially Filipino nurses and their communities in the Nordic region.


Nursing Education and Pedagogy


Covers curriculum development, teaching strategies, simulation, and continuing education. Emphasis on multicultural classrooms and international students.


Research Methodologies in Nursing


Discusses innovative or adapted research methods suitable for nursing and health research, including participatory, ethnographic, and community-based approaches.

FULL-RESEARCH ARTICLE

5000-7000 words

Full Research Articles (5,000–7,000 words)


Original, empirical studies using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods. Articles must include:

  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Introduction and background
  • Methodology
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion and implications for practice or policy

LITERATURE REVIEW

4000-600 words

Literature Reviews (4,000–6,000 words)


Comprehensive, critical reviews of existing literature on a specific topic relevant to the journal’s scope. Must include:

  • Clear research question or objective
  • Search strategy and inclusion criteria
  • Thematic or narrative synthesis
  • Gaps in the literature and future directions

RESEARCH BRIEFS

1500-3000 words

Research Briefs (1,500–3,000 words)


Short reports of preliminary findings, pilot studies, or focused investigations. Ideal for early-stage research or time-sensitive topics.

EDITORIALS

1500-2000 words

Editorials (1,000–2,000 words)


Opinion pieces or commentaries on current issues in nursing, health policy, or migrant health. Editorials may be invited or submitted unsolicited.

INNOVATIVE IDEAS

up to 2500 words

Innovative Ideas (up to 2,500 words)


Conceptual papers proposing new models, frameworks, or approaches in nursing education, practice, or policy. These should be grounded in theory or practice and offer clear implications.

BEST PRACTICES IN NURSING


2000-4000 words

Best Practices in Nursing (2,000–4,000 words)

Case studies or descriptions of successful interventions, programs, or strategies in clinical or educational settings.


Must include:

  • Context and rationale
  • Implementation process
  • Outcomes and lessons learned
  • Transferability to other settings

Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Word format.
  • Include a title page with author names, affiliations, and contact details.
  • Use APA 7th edition for references and citations.
  • All submissions must include an abstract (150–250 words) and 3–5 keywords.

Peer-review

  • All submissionspeer review by at least two reviewers.

  • Authors will receive feedback and may be asked to revise their manuscripts before final acceptance.

Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must ensure:

    • Proper ethical approval for studies involving human participants.
    • Disclosure of any conflicts of interest.
    • Originality of the work (no plagiarism or duplicate submissions).

  • Nordic Puls is an open-access journal. All articles are published under theCreative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
